My dad's 1996 Nissan Altima has about 200k miles on it. Recently (I'd say within the last few months), it began to stall intermittently.

My dad drove it to a gas station and turned off the engine to fill up the tank, and when he went to start the car again, it refused. It would continue cranking but would never catch. It seems that once the engine cools off and sits for a while, it will start again. It used to do this randomly, but now it does this all the time.

My dad thought it was the distributor cap, but he replaced it and the problem still persists. What's causing this problem?

Had a simular problem, when getting off a highway, it stalled then started up right away. Check the idle screw(on the pass side of engine, tucked behind the valve cover) and turn it up. Or the electronic sensor on the distributor is out, which I replaced completely. After many weeks of testing, this site recommended to replace it completely, since used ones sometimes have the same problems. That's all I can suggest. Anyone else???
