Air Intakes and Gas mileage.

Ok, so i did this make shift short ram air intake for my 93 altima.

I have just two questions i hope someone can answer.

1. While driving it seems to sputter or misfire of some sort but not all the time, it seems to be whenever i dont open the throttle enough

2. do air intakes improve gas mileage? i went from barely getting over 200 km's on 26-27 litres(30$ of gas) to barely getting over 150!!

the a/f is off since you got the intake. sputtering could be caused by too much gas causing a rich condition and basically flooding the engine. this could explain the loss in mileage as well. go back to stock and see if it fixes it. just b/c you think you are adding more air doesnt mean you are adding more power. my .02
