Question Removing unused pulleys

I was thinking my A/C is dead i can live with out it so why leave the A/C compressor belt on. but after looking at it the main belt and the A/C belt pull on the crank shaft in opposing directions. Now I'm wondering if i can just cut the belt off (remove not just hack it ) or would that leave the crank pulley unbalanced?

EDIT: This would obviously be to reduce the engine load (every little bit helps).

I don't know the belt path(s) make sure that the belt driving the a/c is not al so driving the alternator or power steering. If it does, then you probably can't remove the compressor. However, if it is possible, then you have to know the exact distance from pulley to pulley in order to get the correct belt length. try this website for belt distance.

Well the ac is on its own belt so thats why i thought it would be easy to just remove the whole belt

It is perfectly ok to remove the A/C compressor and the huge bracket it's on with the idler pulley. I did it on my 95 and I have had no balance issues - saves weight and less stress on the engine since the a/c comes on even in defrost mode.
