oil is oil ?

Hello again - now that the low idle issue has been addressed, have another question I'd like to pose for the group - just want to get a feel for what you all use. I have two other cars, a 2005 Chevy Silverado and a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. In those cars I use either Mobil 5000 or Havoline - changed religously at 3000 miles. I haven't owned a car with as many miles as the Altima (134000) and was wondering if there as a "better" brand than another out there. ( I know, I know this has been debated from one end to another but I've not owned a foreign car or one that has this many miles on it ) Anyway this Altima is flawless - an old lady had it and it's like brand new inside and out. I wan't to put the best in there to keep it running as quiet and powerful as it does now. I took the car from St. Louis to Louisville two days ago and got about 25 + MPG. I've heard Castrol is good for higher mileage engines - truth or no? Thanks!

I normaly use Castrol GTX myself. But its not so much the brand of oil but the weight of the oil to consider. At that high of a mileage you may want to consider running 10w-30 or 10w-40. I normally stick with 5w-30 until you start hearing some valve train noise (or 200k) then swap to 10w-40.

I use 5w-30 Mobile one. DOn't believe in the mystical properties of Fully synthetic oil. Conventional oil is good to. I suggest you ask the user Bor Jace this question.
