Any suitable replacement for lame Eagle LS?

Hi all,

Just bought an '03 Murano LS a couple of days ago with 42k miles and worn tires. I've read some pretty bad reviews of the stock tires and was looking for some other brand P235/65/18's....but can find none. Does anyone know of a company other than Goodyear that makes this size? What about going to a sightly lower profile tire, say P235/55/18...has anyone tried that?

Thanks,
JDW

i've been looking for months...

found ones close in size, but I want to check this out with someone who knows tires and going away from mfg specs.

http://www.kaltire.com/retail/tires/...TAS&cat=LT/SUV

this one's V rated, too and are 60s rather than 65s..

will post what i find out.. a michigan tire dealer sells them and if they are suitable, hopefully they arent pricey.

the Nokian dealer confirmed use of their tire. 2 things here: 1) they were 199$ per tire (free shipping from this michigan tire place), 2) they said to expect 40-50K on treadwear. so they are more expensive than the crappy eagles but if the treadwear numbers are accurate then they would be worth the extra couple of bucks.

also, i got the following reply from cooper tires:

"Thank you for visiting the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company web site.

To answer your question: We will have that size in '06. Please stay in
contact with your local Cooper dealer, or call our consumer relations
department at 1-800-854-6288, for details on availability."

Tires

I have been checking around also. I went to the local Goodyear dealer and he quoted me a price of approximately $140 per tire. He then went on to tell me that Dunlop offers a tire in this size and BF Goodrich does too. He said that the BF Goodrich tire was a 10 ply tire and was really meant more for trucks or truck-like SUV's and would ride rougher. He did not go into great detail about them. Also, he stated that the Dunlop's were over twice the price of the Goodyear's and that Dunlop is owned by Goodyear (is that true?). Once again, he did not go into great detail about them. I take it he wanted to push the Goodyear's. If anyone else has additional info about possible candidates for tire replacements please feel free to add because I know I am interested as are many others.

i believe this to be false.. based on their web site...

The search results are based on the following criteria:
2005 NISSAN Murano S/SL/SE with a manufacturer's standard tire size of P235/65R18

no results.

they are owned by gooodyear as of 1999: http://www.autoblog.com/entry/5843942294116930/

Tires

I have 2003 Murano LS. I have also had a hard time finding an alternate tire. I came across 255/60VR-18 Pirelli Scorpion Zero XL. I got them for $146.00 each from TIRERACK. They don't take to much away from speedometer reading at all (0.1%), not bad. I been driving on them foR about 1 month. They have been great!! It doesn't take away from the ride handling at all, they actually feel good. I didn't want to go back to those Goodyear's. They are pretty bad!

It's been a couple of months, do you still stand by the tires?? I am looking for new ones. Also, the size difference doesn't cause rubbing in turns does it? The tire you purchased is slightly wider. Thanks
