Turns over, but won't start

91 Pathfinder
The engine turns over just fine, but I cannot get it to start up.
1. New plugs, and the spark is there on all 6.
2. Compression is good
3. Fuel pump is good
4. New fuel filter
5. Timing is correct

I think the injectors are not getting power, because I don't smell any gas out the exhaust when turning it over.

What tells the injectors to "squirt"?
Where do they get power?

Anyone else have any other ideas?

I thought the ECU told the injectors when to fire (based on various inputs from the sensors and distributor).

I wonder if it would start (and run momentarily) if you sprayed some starter fluid down the throttle body. If so, that might confirm your "no fuel" scenario.

Starter fluid, carb cleaner, pretty much anything in a spray bottle that's flammable will work. If it still won't start, it's an ignition problem.

The only way to achieve the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible - unknown

Using carb cleaner I have been able to get it to burn a few times, but it still isn't getting any gas. What are the odds all 6 injectors go bad at the same time?

I really think it is either power to the injectors or perhaps the crank-angle sensor is not communicating to the ECU properly...

The crank angle sensor inside the distributor is what triggers the fuel injectors.

Dosen't this also tell the coil when to fire??? (I have no idea) If it does he probably wouldn't have spark either. Another option would be a clogged fuel rail to the injectors but never heard of this happeing so I doubt that one.

You can use a tool that looks like a doctors stethascope but instead of the round thing on the end it has a 6in metal pointer. (anything similar would work) With this you could touch the injectors and listen for little clicking sounds. They should all be the same tone and firings reps would be th same also. With a no start they might not even click. You could ohm them also. Look up what the ohms for your injectors would be. I would check vacuum and your maf too.

I figured it out, but forgot to reply.

Apparently the injectors fire by grounding out, and my injector circuit was not properly grounded. After fixing that, it starts right up.

Thanks for all the help.

glad the problem was fixed. Just in case someone reads this thread having the same problem you can check you ECT (engine coolant temp. sensor) by ohming it. If the sensor is telling the pcm the engine is hot and it is cold outside, it might not start.
