'01 Pathy Clicking sound
Yesterday I was messing around in a huge sand Pit with steep hills in my '01 Pathy SE. It's got the all-mode 4wd like in the QX4, as mine's a Canadian model. It's all stock except for Warn Manual hubs.
I was cruising around in 4Hi until I got to a steep hill that required 4-low. I put the car in neutral, pressed the dial and turned it to 4-low. I was in deep sand. I put it back in drive, and lightly pressed the gas, and heard a loud clicking sound come from the front of the car. It was the type of clicking you hear when you've got a bad CV joint, although that's not it. I put it in reverse, moved back a couple of feet, put it back into drive, and no more clicking, climbed the steep sand hill.
My question is, what was it?? Were my manual hubs slipping? Did the 4low not engage properly, transfer case noise, what????
