After driving, put your hand near the wheels to check for heat; you may have a disk caliper or drum cylinder sticking. If you don't fee a lot of heat coming off of them you could try touching them quickly, but be careful, if it is a pad or shoe stuck, it'll get hot enough to burn you. You may also be albe to check this by jacking up each wheel and confirming that it turns freely.
If nothing turns up with the brakes, I'd check the u-joints on the driveshaft. They can squeak, but I doublt they'd cause a burning smell.
I guess this is an automatic? If so, how's the fluid level? If manual, how's the clutch adjustment; does it move in and out of gear easily?
Just some thoughts.
