Starting problems

I'm having problems getting my 95 P/U (4cyl) to start. Sometimes when I try to start it nothing happens. No noises or sounds nothing even with the clutch pushed in all the way. All the dash warning lights and buzzers come on though. If I turn the ignition off and let go of the clutch and try again it starts up fine! What gives? The battery is about 11 years old!

What should I look for? Starter?

If your truck starts some of the time then it must be the starter. I would check the terminals for corrosion and get them cleaned, or get a new starter. Hope this helps.

My wife's 95 Pathfinder has the exact same issue. The shop seems to think its the starter, but they're not sure since when they went to check on it, it stated up.

Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the starter (they also mentioned some relay) on a 95 Pathfinder 2WD?

I think I'm going to replace the battery since it's 11 years old and clean all the corrosion on the terminals. If that doesn't fix it I guess it will be the starter or that relay.

New battery, new battery cables and grounds, and see what happens. Here's a page on how to change a starter on a Pathfinder.
