1988 SE V-6 5 speed truck ? Newbie questions

Hey guys- I have a 1988 SE V-6 5 speed truck with 145k. I was wondering what the reputation is on my motor. Is it the same 3.0 as Z cars of same year?

Are there headers and other boltons? I also wonder if there is a bolt on SC or turbo from other Nissans that could work with it. it runs good and is my beater truck.

thanks
chuck

It's not the exact same as the 300Z, but it's real close. You can get headers for it and other things, but it's dang near impossible to simply bolt a turbo on there...no room under the hood without major customization. I've seen someone bolt a S/C from a Thunderbird on his, but he's a fabricator and hasn't worked out all the kinks yet.

thanks 88pathoffroad- where would be a good place to get headers? also, sorry to ask so many questions, but do I have a timing chain or belt?

here are pics of my truck. I've had it for 7 yrs and it's been good to me. BTW-It has wheels from a 2000 Nissan truck.

You have a timing belt, it needs to be changed every 60,000 miles, and your V6 is rated at 145 HP at 4500 RPM and 166 ft-lb at 2200 RPM.

Nice truck! You can get a little extra power with a switch to synthetic motor oil. Take off the aluminized hose that runs from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner housing; all that will do for you is help to heat up that big metal air box and warm the intake air (bad for horse power).

Headers and exhaust would give you probably 20 HP or so.

The only two companies that make headers for Pathfinders are Thorley and Pacesetter. The Thorley headers are bad-ass and expensive(made in USA), the Pacesetters are cheap and pretty crappy(made in Mexico).
