steering vibration damper question

Hi All,

I have a 97 hardbody and there is a vibration damper inside the steering assembly. The rubber shock mounts are worn out and it just rattles around inside there. I could easily remove it or replace it, is there really any REAL benefit from this little part? I have secured it with zip ties for now until I can replace it and it does not seem to really make a difference? Any one have any experience with this?
Thanks

Is this connected to the drag link or are you speaking of the rag joint between the steering column and the steering box?

A new steering stabilizer will help you out, yes. A Monroe SS is pretty dang cheap($25-30), very effective, and very easy to install. I'd get a new one.

The metal "weight" mounted inside the steering wheel assembly above the air bag assembly. It is designed to dampen shock inside the steering wheel. Mine got to the point that it was just rattling around inside there and making a lot of noise.
