Coolant Leak

Vehicle is 1985 Nissan P/U 2.4 L motor.
On the bottom of the intake manifold there is a hose fitting. A hose from the water pump and hose from heater core meet here. A coolant leak began here after removing the hoses I determined the hose nipples had rusted and failed. Can this fitting be removed? Or can it be bypassed.

It sounds like you're describing the heater control valve, right?

If so, that's a cheap part, available at any local parts store. Easy fix.
