Removing Mirror on 1990 Hardbody

Hi,

I have to replace the mirrors on my 1990 Hardbidy 2wd (with bigger ones so I can carry a camper). How do I remove the existing ones without destroying them and the door?

Wouldn't it be easier to get those convex adhesive mirrors?

Ummm... I guess so, but it wouldn't do the job!

The camper sticks out, so the mirror must stick out MORE so that I can see behind it. Hence, a larger mirror (or at least one that sticks out more).

There are some available that slide onto the existing mirror, but given how easily mine "adjusts", I think more leverage would make it flap about too much.

So: thanks, but back to the Original Question...

I had to do it because I changed the mirrors on my truck to Patfinder chrome. There are 3 screws that hold the mirror to the door. You have to pull the panel off the door and before you do that take off the window crank, door handle and the armrest. The panel has plastic clips under neath it all around the edge uou can take them don't break them. I used an old fork with two prongs and it worked quite well. Good luck.

Ditto. Simplicity.

Remove the door panel, remove the plastic trim cover, remove the mirror screws/bolts. Mirror comes off.

Well, I HATE removing door panels: I always lose the clips for the window-crank, break the clips...

Anyway, managed to get the screws out by just bending the door panel a little.

YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THERE'S A BIG HULKIN HOLE IN THE DOOR!

I have to remove the mirror completely, and I don't want a big hulking hole in my door, so I guess I have to leave the dress panels on and just cut off the mirror?

You could always fold the mirrors back and go like that. Or use duct tape to cover the holes?
