Question Newbie here......U-Joint problems 86 1/2 Hardbody King Cab

Mechanic stated that the drive shaft and U-joints are not serviceable and that I must purchase a new/used drive shaft for my 1986 1/2 24i Hardbody King Cab. She has over 158K miles and has towed a boat all her life. Do I have any other options, beside buying a new Frontier

it would probably be cheaper to have one made for it and eliminate the center bearing

True, that's what a lot of other people do.

The above posters are correct as to getting one made. A new one which has replaceable U-Joints(go figure) will run around $600. Just had it done.

Thanks guys, I have been amazed that the salvage yards here in Florida have not return our calls for a used one. Did find someone in town who works on that stuff though and will let him have a shot at fixing it for me.
