Max tire size question?

What is the max tire width you could put on a 14x6 wheel, would a 245 fit? I kinda wanted to know the max you could put on before i went to the tire store so i wasnt suprised at what they told me, and so i dont feel like an idiot.

Thanks,
Josh

245mm (~9.5") is within the 4" maximum difference between wheel width and tire section width that I read in an off-roading magazine, but, a tire store may balk when you ask them to install a non-stock size tire. You can try, but you may want to be prepared to buy the tires one place and have them mounted at another (or bring the wheels alone to a shop and ask them to mount tires on them).

Beyond the width (245mm) of the tire, you've got to consider what aspect ratio you need to go with (60, 70, 75, etc.) so that the tire still fits in the fenderwell and around the frame and suspension.

You should use one of the on-line tire size calculators and see how much difference you'll have.

I "found" some nice 14 inch rims off of a Mazda 2WD and I called the tire place and they said the biggest they make for a 14 is a 225. But he could be wrong so Id call myself and find out for sure.
