Timing problem

I attempted to check/adjust my timing today and i couldnt do it because i could not find the timing pointer, can someone point me in the right direction?
Also does the engine need to be up to full temp with anything disconnected or plugged?

Thanks

I don't know specifically for your '94 (or Nissans in general for that matter -- just a Nissan owner for 3 months now), so hopefully I'm not totally off here, but on most vehicles, the timing mark is a small notch on the crank pulley. They typically will be pointing up (between 12:00 and 2:00) when the engine is at TDC. Mounted to the block or timing belt/chain cover, there should be a timing index (some # of degrees BTDC through some # of degrees ATDC). It'd be good to mark the notch and the # of degrees your looking for with white or some other bright paint so that they light up when the timing light hits them.

OK, so I just looked at the manual for my '04 and it looks like there is a pin coming out of the block near the crank sprocket (around 10:00) and that the timing index is actually on the crank sprocket itself. So much for my theory

Hopefully, one of these setups is what you have.

I'd say generally YES to the operating temp, but I think you'd have to check a manual for your engine to determine if anything (like the vacuum advance on the dist) needs to be disconnected and/or plugged.

Sorry, I know I'm not helping much here, but I am keeping the post on top
