I've been using BF Goodrich AT's for a while and really like them. From my experience, they have good traction, low noise, handling and slow wear. Great traction in the snow! I also have BFG's MT's on my Jeep CJ7 and they are great. Wear a little faster, a little noiser. But then again, I don't have much insulation on the jeep and no top and doors. But still outlasts some of the major aftermarket tires like all Super Swampers MT models.

So, I suggest BFG's AT KO tires. Quite a few BFG AT's rolling around on SUV's around here. I'm sure you'll hear other brands and hear other suggestions, so hope you pick the right set for your PF.

My father actually went to the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenzas (on his 01 Pathfinder SE AWD) after he wore his Toyos down to race tread (not joking. He's very forgetful). They are slightly stiffer than his old tyres but the ride comfort is still pretty good. The big thing for him (and me) is the wet traction. They are excellent in damp and heavy wet conditions, especially at higher speeds.

Being Bridgestones, it isn't the cheapest rubber you can get, but I think I would tell him to get these tyres again.

I put these on my 97 QX4 six months ago and am a huge fan. Good traction in all conditions and a very civilized ride.

I got four from CostCo for around $550 out the door including lifetime hazard protection and rotation.

Also put my vote down for the BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA's.

We got a set about 2 years ago and love them. They are the 31x10.5 on our '92 Pathfinder. They replaced the Michelin M/S's that were on the vehicle when we bought it. IMO, the BFG's are better tires for this type of vehicle. And the more agressive tread gives them a much better 4x4 look - - whether you go off-road or not.
