Exclamation Pathfinder Roofrack Help.

Hi, im new here. and i recently purchased a 2001 pathfinder LE. Ive been doing some searches through out this forum and im trying to find info on the oem roofrack that comes with the vehicle. i would like to replace it with the '02 roofrack that seems more streamlined and cleaner looking. however i dont know if the newer one will bolt up to the old stock ones mounting brackets... would anyone here know off hand if it is at all possible to swap them, and if so is there anyone here selling there '02 oem roofrack... thanks in advance for your time and attention i really do appreciate it...

Unfortunately I'm not sure if the '02 rack fits on the '01 easily. I'm looking to take the rack off entirely on my '01, but I can't see how it's done. So if you do it, let me know how it comes apart.

Joe.

The end caps on the cross bars pop off then you can use the supplied tool to take those off. Then just pull off the rubber strips on the main bars and you'll see how it's attached to the roof.

i called the parts dept. and they said most likely it will not but the only way to know for sure is to order it and put it on, or to measure it... however since the part would be special order you cannot return it... so again im stuck with out an answer...

This guy did it with a 98, so it shouldn't be too hard to do with an 01.

im sure it can be done if you were willing to do so... however im asking if it will bolt up to the original brackets the older 01 is mounted to... i do not want to do any "modding" or welding or anything out of the normal oem bolt on method.
(and it seems as if he only has the exterior rails not the entire rack with the middle bars...)

Supplied tool? Where is that tool found in the truck?

Joe.

roofrack

I wanted to do the same thing, I have a 2001 and I wanted a 2002 roofrack. The guy at the dealer parts department said it would not bolt right on, that I would have to do some body work to make it work.

I'm not sure where it was supposed to be exactly, but mine was in a bag with the owner's manual and wheel lock key. I can't remember exactly but I don't think it was anything special, basically just a hex head screwdriver (I think, I'll check tonight).

Ok great, Thanks.

I didn't get any tool like that, but it doesn't sound like a big deal. I'm going to pop off the covers like you mentioned here and see what happens from there.

Joe.

I looked at the tool last night and it is a hex head but with a hole in the middle. I think you can buy allen wrenches like that.

You need that to take off the end caps on the cross bars, then just a regular hex/allen key to remove the cross bars. The bars bolted to the roof are secured with Torx head screws.

screw that shit... i was starring it at yesterday for a while (like some chimp and a computer just scratching my head and banging on the rails) i have an opp. to buy an 02 rack for 50.00 but i dont know if itll bolt up everyone ask isnt sure or says "it should!" and the most comical response was "hey its nissan they use all the same parts so its gonna fit." lol i dont know what that means but it wasnt enough to make me buy it... but i did but a really nice cargo liner for the rear...
