I have an '05 Pathfinder which I thought had the famous fluttering sound, which there is a TSB for now. I had the TSB performed and the sound was still there. I took in yesterday and today, they "think" it's the catalytic convertor, so they ordered one. Will a bad cat cause a constant ticking sound whenever you give the car gas?

With My 96 toyota..It wasnt so much a ticking sound but all the cones inside the cat were starting to break apart and rattle around and smelled terrible. This was an old cat (130,000 miles on it before I changed it) also, a cat on an 05 shouldnt have the insides breaking down already. Did the TSB for the flutter work for you at least, or was this the sound the entire time?

I've had the sound from day one of ownership, the TSB didn't help at all.
