Catalytic Converter Removal (XTerra)

I am preparing to ship my 2004 Xterra (4X2) to a country where there is no unleaded fuel. Can the catalytic converter be easily removed without affecting performance? What are the risks involved in not removing the converter and using leaded fuel? I understand this may/will destroy the converter, but how will it affect the performance of the vehicle?

FWIW, I will obtain the required authorization for removal of the converter.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with where the second O2 sensor is, but unless it goes directly into the cat, I would think the answer would be yes. If it goes into the cat then you may have to have a bung welded onto the pipe to receive the sensor.

I think you're right about "destroy(ing)" the cat with leaded fuel. I know it at least makes it usesless, but I don't know that it would affect anything else.

Hopefully, someone with experience will chime in here.
Good Luck.
