Sounds like adding a class two trailer hitch is pretty easy but I'm told I need to go to the dealer for the wiring. What's up with that, no pig tail in rear for trailer lights?

I have a 2003 and I spent about $280 for an aftermarket HiddenHitch and it works just fine.

I have an '05 Murano and I'm about to add a hitch. Has anyone towed with theirs yet? and How does it do? Never towed with FWD before, but the Murano is heavier and has more Horsepower than what I have been using, so it should be an improvement.
Also, the dealer wanted $900 to add a hitch, and as stated previously you can have it done aftermarket for $200-$300. What's up with that?!?!?

I found a class II hitch 2" at UHAUL for $139, my question is on the wiring. Is you Murano FWD only, what is the tow max pounds?
I'm a do-it-yourself type guy, was wondering what the fuss is about the wiring. Guess I'll find out when I get to it.
Billy B.- Max towing weight is listed as 3500lbs. Like Amontes said, the place installing the hitch will do the pigtail. They told me that if they don't have an adapter, they can "hard wire" it with no problem. I've seen adapters on some of the Hitch/Trailering related websites.
Amontes - what do you pull, and how does the Murano perform while towing?

The place that's going to install the hitch is "ME" what's up with the wiring? Any big deal?

From what the technician said when I asked about mine, it shouldn't be any different than you've dealt with before. I've never done it, so I'm letting them handle it. I'm also usually a "do-it-yourself" type of guy, but decided not to on the "NEW" car. GOOD LUCK and let us know how it comes out.
