Angry 2005 pathfinder warning lights

I just got my 05 pathfinder this weekend. It had about 450 miles on it already. Just now, on the way back from my basketball game, several lights came on while i was driving.
Lights: 4WD, ABS, SLIP, VDC off are all on
Missing: lost gas tank information:mte, mph, and mpg. I also lost the 4wd/2wd symbol too.

What's the cause? bad fuse?
I'm going to take it in to the dealer tomorrow to get it check out.

Too many electronics = too many problems.

sigh....

The service guys said it is caused by bad ABS controller.
I can see my VDC, Brake, ABS, and maybe 4WD warning lights are tied to the ABS controller. The ABS controller is on back-order. So it may take a couple of weeks to get the parts in.

Does anyone have a clue on why does speedometer tie to the ABS system?

Well, my speedometer doesn't work. I have no idea how fast I'm driving right now. Thus, odometer will not roll too... well, I'm staying at the same mileage...

Service guy said there are no issue driving the car. With exception that ABS will not work. Since I won't get any snow in Dallas, I'm ok driving without ABS.

If I keep driving, Does anyone think this will not casue any mechanical issue down the road ?

Thanks

The speedometer is working off wheel sensors or maybe one wheel sensor which counts the tire rotation and thus also works with your ABS for wheel lock up during breaking. That is crazy they would allow you to drive it seeing as you stated the speedo doesnt work. I would demand a loaner. You ABS is reading your wheel sensors and that is why you must be seeing all those light cause they must also look for each wheel sensor too.

hmm... i guess I'll call Nissan Customer service tomorrow.
I bought my car off another dealer in San Antonio.
I don't think the dealer in Dallas care much.
Do you think I can get a loaner through Nissan Customer service?
Or should I call dealer at San Antonio and demand a loaner car for this issue?

undallas,

I would think that the dealer would not let your vehicle leave the lot without a working speedometer. In anycase case call NISSAN corporate or another dealer and ask. Or call and talk to the service manager. In any case don't be surprised if they end up tagging you vehicles VIN for inaccurate odometer reading which could end up hurting the resale value of your nissan later down the road if they do documenting this on your VIN.

Good luck,

TurboedMSP,

thanks.. I'm going to call Nissan first, then another dealer.
Since this is a serious safety issue, I would think Nissan would provide a better service than "parts is back-order".

After reading all the web sites about VDC, ABS, and SLIP..
I guess they are all linked together by the most fundamental controller - ABS.
All sites indicated that VDC and SLIP uses ABS to calculate; thus, it is very important... I still have no idea why my 4WD light is on for... hopefully, it is also related to ABS controller.

thanks
