I'm looking for a pickup to drive everyday and since Honda doesn't make one (in my price range anyway), I wanted to go with another reliable, foreign make.
I found a '99 Frontier 4x4 Kingcab with 65k for $12,9k. Is this a good deal? Are there any recalls or any pressing issues I should know about before I get into REALLY looking at them?
What part of the country are you in ? What country ?
My neighbour purchased one of these with the v6 2000 or 2001 for 11k. 2wd
Texas Dallas area.

Thank bro...I live just outside of Philly...the one I described above is a '99 4x4 w/65k on it. If I can get him down a g or 2, I'd be comfortable with it...
You don't happen to say if it's a V6 or 4 banger. I'll assume V6, but both are good.
There are no major recalls that I'm aware of, you can do a search of that online. Both the 4 cyl and V6 are considered to be extremely durable and reliable.
The 4 cyl has known header issues (cracking), not sure about the 6. If taken care of properly, they should last years.
The steering is a known weak issue, if you plan to off-road much or go with bigger tires. Upgraded steering parts are available from Calmini, SLR and maybe L&P (don't know if they retool the centerlink for Fronty's).
65K is pretty good mileage for a '99. My '00 has 72K on it now. Pick up a Truck Trader for your area or go to autotrader.com to get an idea of going prices in your locale. This should help you decide if the price is fair or not.

I just did a search via Edmunds.com for '99 Nissan Frontiers within 100 miles of you and got 14 hits. Prices range from $12,995 to $5995 with the average being $9792. Not all are 4X4 though. Most of them had mileage numbers in the high 5 figures but a couple were much less and priced lower too. There are enough of them nearby that I would look at a good selection before buying one.
The one at $12,995 has 65K miles on it. It is from York Nissan. Is that the one you are thinking of?

Yes, that is the one I was looking at. It looks like that's a fair price for what it is and with some haggling, I can probably get them down to 12k out the door (tax, title, tags included)
