Part # 4 Electrical part of ignition switch

I have the same problem, but I replaced all the relay switches and such. I am almost certain it is not my starter. But the electrical part of the ignition switch. When it starts - it starts right up - no problem. But other times it is just dead when I turn the key - no hum, no click, nothing. I banged on the column and wiggled the key one morning, and it started right up. Has to be in the ignition switch mechanism. Please if anyone knows the part number - PLEASE post

Need Part # for Electrical part of ignition switch - 94 Pathfinder, manual trans

email me: zehrfox@comcast.net

Thanks

You could call the dealership and ask them what the part number is. You could also probably find out what the cost is for a new one at the same time.

I tried that

I tried calling the dealership, in fact 2 of them. They are not helpful at all. the only part the claim to have is the entire ignition assembly ($150-$250).

I saw in posts here before, others mentioning that the electrical part of the ignition cost them only $40-$50. This is what I need the part number for. I tried several online parts places, and without a part number or a picture, or the correct name of the part, I was unable to find the piece I need. My local dealerships, either have clueless staff, or are just trying to sell me more than I need. This happedn before, when I tried to get 3 relay switches ($22 total), all my dealership claimed to be able to order was the entire battery cable assembly ($90). Once someone here gave me the part numbers, they were suddenly able to order them. So if any one knows of a good dealership that I could call, that would help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Smile Thank you

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I appreciate it, you helped me a lot!

The guys on this forum rule! - great source of information, amazing that the car owners here know tons more about my car than the dealership!

Called dealership, part ordered $49 plus shipping.

Thanks again

Be forewarned that you'll need to drill out four self-shearing screws to get that off and replace the switch...just so you know. They'll need to be replaced with new screws. If you want to prevent theft, use new self-shearing screws, otherwise machine screws will suffice. It's a bit of an awkward angle and position to drill out the screws. You'll see when you get the column cover off.

I think you can get to the switch without taking the lock off (or mechanical part) the switch should just screw to the bottom of the steering lock, plain ol screws, the lock it self has the shear bolts , if you have to take them out, I used a dremel to make slots and then backed them out with a screw driver
