Nissan will have a factory acessory system soon that will work with the stock harness with some extensions.

I have an xm radio in my car and the fm modulator works for me even if your radio picks up a station on one of the frequencys that it broadcasts on the xm mod. should be able to over power it BTW mine works with almost no static like that hope that helps.

Any ideal when they will release the harness? How does the darn shifter come off?
I have a plug in transmitter with selectable freqs. and one clear channel here might be messed up 10 miles down the road. I've looked at some "pie" converters but none for the new quest.

The shifter? If I remember correctly. Under the knob there is the neck. Take and slide the neck down. Then you will see this little clip thing you need to take a very small screwriver and pry it away.

I, too, would recommend the factory xm.
