Finding the Speed Sensor (GAL) on Pathfinder

I recently purchased an Eclipse AVN2454 navigation system for my 2001 Nisaan Pathfinder that I am attempting to install myself. Everything seems straight forward except that I need to connect the unit to the Speed Sensor (GAL) or in some other way allow the unit to receive a signal in order to determine speed.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Thanks,
Geoff

The speed sensor should be on the transmission. Get yourself a factory service manual, perhaps. You can download it from nissantech-info.com for $20 or so, I believe.

Sounds a little strange to me - I'm no expert on this sytem but most systems I have seen use the GPS satellites to calculate the vehicle speed. The manaul actually says you have to connect it?

Great system!!..........I has the same one installed in my 03' and love it!! I had it installed professionally so I can not really help you out I just wanted to let you know that the system solid. Only down thing is that there are only 6 FM presets??...I called Eclipse and they confirmed that is the case. I solved that prob by getting SIRIUS installed as well.

Also there is way to by pass the brake system so you can use the all Nav functions or change routes while driving or watch a DVD (none are that safe, especially the DVD but having full control of the Nav has come in handy)

Good luck with the insall

Also - yes the speed sensor needs to be connected, this is for if you are going through any tunnels or high building (i.e. NYC) it can still track you via speed

Just to close the loop on this in case anyone else had the same question, I found out that the easiest place to get to the Speed Sensor is the White with Blue cable in the Cruise Module, located behind the Driver's Side Kick.
