Can someone provide a complete part list for Clutch Replacement ('90 Pathfinder)

I think the throwout bearing on my '90 Pathfinder XE-V6 4WD is shot. Every time I depressed the clutch I hear a loud grinding noise. It's most notable at Reverse and first and 2nd gears.

It's got 141K miles on the original clutch so I think it's time. Got a few questions:

1. I'm planning to buy the parts by myself and let the mechanic do it. Could somebody provide me a complete list for stuffs that I need to replace and stuffs that are cheap and don't cost any more labor to replace "while down there".

2. I got quotes from 2 transmission shops around here and they were both around $1000 including parts and labor. Is this reasonable? The clutch replacement on my BMW is only $700 top.

List

I just did an engine swap because I had bad rod bearing, to replace the cluth, you'll need a clutch kit, which should have

1. pressure plate
2. clutch disc
3. throwout bearing

I added the following parts,

4. pilot bearing
5. release for spring clips, they were cheap, and mine were starting to get weak.
6. you need to seal the engine-transmission with silicone

I had 1 bad front u joint, so i replaced them both while the front drive shaft was out, the 7 dollars each was worth the piece of mind where I live in maine, and 4wd isn't just a want, it is a need.

Another thing that's good to have is a clutch plate alignment tool if the kit you buy doesn't come with one. Makes it QUITE a bit easier to put the tranny back in.

try a Nissan dealer for a clutch kit, they run about $145 it has the disc, plate, throw out & pilot bearings, you may want to replace the fork boot($8-$9), I am sure its cracked or torn, maybe check the rear main seal... Hmmm... thats about all I can think of right now

I just got two quotes today from 2 different transmission shops about replacing the clutch assembly and rear main oil seal in my 89 Nissan Hardbody 2.4 2wd...one was $600 and the other was $650 (and they included sealing the whole transmission while they were at it). When I called 6 different dealerships around the Houston area, they wanted any where from 850-1000 dollars to replace the clutch assembly and oil seal. I would say call a few dealerships and use their estimate as a bench mark. Local shops should be quite a bit less than the dealerships are. (I don't know if yours being a 4x4 would have any bearing on the cost or not)...

Also, if your rear main oil and rear oil seal is showing any leakage, now would be a good time to replace them....

Thanks guys! I think I'll do all that you guys recommend if I decide to do it.

1. pressure plate
2. clutch disc
3. throwout bearing
4. pilot bearing
5. release for spring clips, they were cheap, and mine were starting to get weak.
6. you need to seal the engine-transmission with silicone
7. Rear main seal
8. Fork boot

I called the dealer just now --- $1413 was the quote to fix all above. WTF. I got this car for only $1400. I'll keep searching. If the repair cost is still clost to a thousand, I probably would just drive it till it dies. Then I'll send it to the junk yard. Doesn't worth all the money.
