What is the difference between Frontier 2002 v6 and Frontier 2003 v6. What modification Nissan made to give 2003 ten more horse powers?
It is from the Exhaust system.. And the Options available on the 03 vs. the 02.
There is a big difference in pulling and the torque rpm.
NOW, I also have a 5spd Auto in my 03 which was NOT an 02 option. And I have a long bed with crew cab SE with 5k towing pkg which is not an 02 option.
The computer was not touched.
And unlike the 02, with the 03 I have, the exhaust system with NISMO intake created 19more DYNO'd HP and 12more LBS of TQ.
An 02 that was being tested only showed a gain of 16 and 10 respectively.
The design of the stock exhaust was the factor.
do you mean you have a 5spd manual or an automatic because a 5spd auto has never been available on a fronty till the new 05. That and I don't know about feeling the difference between the 10 hp. The frontier is still a pretty pokey truck no matter what. Really the biggest difference 03 brought, were new wheels, and new packaging for the different trim levels and the parking brake moved. Just look around and choose wisely... the main difference is between the 01 and 02 when the 02 recieved the new interior and new seat fabrics the S/C engine was more available.

I have an 03 Long Bed CC with V6 4spd with FINAL LOCK, also known as 5spd auto. The 05's have 5spd with FINAL LOCK,also known as 6spd auto. Just saw it on the NISSAN factory Printout for NISMO edition sitting next to my truck at the Dealers a week ago.
As for Pokey? I do not see that. And it is BUILT from NISSAN with a pull rating of 5k. As where the 02's pull is less.
And yes, I have the exhaust and intake mod by NISMO. Yet that had no bearing on the Pull wieght or the tranny. ( I have not put on the TB yet. )
The 04 had the option of the 4spd with FINAL LOCK. I got that in along with a few EXTRA ponies.
All frontier v6s with an auto have been rated at 5k towing since 99 and they all have 4 speed automatics with lockup torque converter. All v6s frontys have always had the same tranny until 05.
The 03s make 180 horse power vs the 02 and previous 170 but its at the same 4800 rpm. 02s and prior make 200 ft lbs of torque at 2800 rpm, and the 03s and 04s make 202 ft lbs of torque at 2800 rpm as well.

Spec240sx,
I am also wanting to get the Nismo CAI for my truck too (03 Frontier SE). Instead of getting the Nismo Cat-Back system, I will get the Gibson muffler and have my local muffler to install it.
Since you already have the Nismo CAI installed for your truck, I would like to ask you couple questions.
- Can I reverse to my truck to the stock air intake setup after I install Nismo
CAI? (I am asking you this question because I am worry that with Nismo
CAI installed, It will not pass smog check - I live in California)
- To buy the Gibson's Muffler, I need to know what size of my truck exhaust
pipe. Do you know what is the diameter my truck exhaust pipe?
- If it is possible, may I have a picture of Nismo CAI after it is installed on
your truck? Email: Travinh@yahoo.com
Thank You,
Tra

The NISMO intake is 50 state legal. And setup as the instructions show, will not alter the SMOG. If anything, it will show a cleaner run.
And YES, the OEM Intake can be bolts right back up.

I have the Gibson Exhaust system on my rig also. I bought the whole UNIT. Installed it myself. The only hard part was removing the stock system from the point where the Gibson fed in. A few Hardy kicks on the stock Muffler and some verbal interjections HELPED
I would suggest buying the system for the Fronty, either get it direct from Gibson in LA LA land or from a good supplier.
Send me an email and I will attach the pics of the Intake and A shot of the exhaust..
