Thumbs up I need new tires for my 2000 Pathfinder!

Im debating between

Michelin Cross Terrains
or
Michelin LTX M/S

Which tire are you guys using? How is the ride? On-road handling??

I recently replaced my original Bridgestones with the Michelin LTX on my 01 PF. The truck rides smoother than ever. I don't do any off roading, so these are fine for me. Costco has a great deal on Michelins, plus you get $60 if you buy four.

I've got LTX M/S on my 97 Pathfinder, incredible difference over the Generals and BFGs I've had on in the past. Big difference right away in road noise and ride.

How are the handling wise? How are the sidewalls? Soft or hard? Looking for something like a nice tighter handling tire on the street.

go with some toyo's. They're really great in the rain and they're very quiet too

I went with the Yokohama Geolander HTS on my 99 PF. 265/70 R15 This was a replacement for the Bridgstones. The Yoko's have a dual channel for great wet traction, i have not had any problems with hydroplaning. They do have a little more aggresive tread pattern than the Bridgestones, however on my 2wd I don't get stuck in the grass anymore, and don't have any trouble pulling my boat out of the water on a sandy landing. O yeah they cost alot less than the michelins do. Just my experience.

I have toyos now but they are expensive. I think Im going to stick to going with Michelins because of the deal at Costco.

I found myself in the same dilemma with the same two choices last year when I shopped for mine. If you not have already done so, I would recommend that you take a look at the reviews at tirerack.com. I believe they still have those two tires there. You'll find a wide spectrum of feedback, but overall (I think) they're highly recommended. Some did say that these have poor snow traction and recommended other brands, while others have no complaints at all.

I ended up getting the Cross Terrains since I figured it's newer than the LTX and it seems to be the choice for mostly on-road driving (IMHO). On the other hand, LTX's may have been around longer, but it has already built a good reputation for itself. If you don't mind paying the premium, then whichever tire is fine. They're Michelins.

To answer your question, the ride is nice and quiet. It performs well in dry and wet conditions. I didn't have any problems in the snow and it didn't have any problems during my light off-roading jaunts. I had Toyo Tranpaths (ick!) that came with my truck and these Michelins are far (read: FAR) more superior than them.

On a last note, there is another member in this forum who purchased the Dueler Revo's for his QX4 and is very satisfied with them. There's another option for ya. 'Hope this helped.
