I am posting this because so many people have had problems with the gauges on the 2000 Xterra I figured sooner or later someone would ask. In 2000 the parts supplier that supplied the fuel pump and printed circuit board for the dash kinda sucked. That is why Nissan didn't use that vendor in 2001. For this reason the speedo, temp, odo, and tach sometimes stick or drop. if anyone has this problem my answer on how I fixed it can be found on Xterrafirma.com.

where is the link to your section of the website that states how you fixed your guage problem. i'm a mechanic and figure out whats going on with mine. it has the same symptoms that you mentioned, and it happens when the headlights are turned on. help!
