1996 Pathfinder A/C Question - need help
Hi all,
New user here; my first post to the boards. I need some advice about an A/C issue with my 1996 Pathfinder, and a search of the forums hasn't yielded the info I need, so I'm posting here.
1) The interior backlight which illuminates the left side of the control unit (i.e. the controls inside the cab) has stopped working, also the LED on the inside/outside air selector pushbutton does not light. I asked at my local Nissan service place about getting it fixed, and was told that I would need to replace the entire control unit. Does that sound about right? I've done enough work on my car myself to feel comfortable with replacing it myself, but the part is pricey (~$160 USD) and I don't want to order it unnecessarily.
2) It seems like whenever the fan is on, the AC blows outside air regardless of the position of the inside/outside air button. (I think outside air is coming in when the fan is off, too, but I can't tell as easily). Will replacing the control unit fix this problem too, or does this problem likely lie elsewhere?
Thanks for any advice!
Mitch
