Question installing fogs on 04 Xterra info please?

Hi and thanks for reading/replying. Is my o4 Xterra XE prewired for fogs? How difficult is sef-instalation? Is there much differance between different brand/modles of fog lights? Any suggestion for good reasonably priced/discounted sources for fog lights and other similar add-ons?
Thanks
JD

JD,
Here is a post provided by Shawn. It tells you everything you need to do to accomplish the fog light installation... Chances are your 04 Fronty has the prewiring...Do you have the power package?

Adding the new switch is easy.

Here is the whole installation:

Fog lights:
(Tools: 10mm wrench or socket (from memory), flat blade screw driver)
- Remove the existing air deflectors. (They are just clipped in) I popped them out with a screw driver. Becareful not to scratch the paint.
- Next pop in the two grommets (2 each side)
- Add the fog lights. Pop the pins into the grommets. Put the bolt into the bottom.
- Locate the fog light wires and remove the tape. (I just pulled and it snapped pretty easy)
- Remove the over flow bottle on the passenger side. (2 screws) You don't have to disconnect the hose, it will move out the way fine.
- Route the fog light wire through the round hole in the on the side of the radiator.
- The drivers side was a little harder because there was another wire going through and an air hose. Get the connector right and it will go through.
- Plug in the wires to the foglights

- Since you have the hood open, might as well pop in the relay and verify you have the 15amp fuse there.

Steering Column:
(Tools: Long neck philips screw driver)
- Remove the 5 philip screws that hold the two plastic pieces together
- Pop the two pieces apart
- Remove the bottom and move the top out of the way
- Switch is held in with 2 philip screws - remove them
- Disconnect the connectors
- Take the new switch and plug in the connectors. (remember the new one for the fog lights - it is loose) also make sure the SWITCH IS OFF. I got a little scare when the head light warning buzzer went off when I plugged the connectors in.
- Screw the switch back in place with the two screws
- Snap the two covers back together and put the 5 screws back in.

You are now ready to turn them on.
Next drive it up to a wall, and verify the direction of the fog lights. Mine were off and I needed to adjust them (silver adjuster on the fog light) to get them at the same beam pattern hight. You will need either pliers or a very very small socket.

Disclaimer... Disconnect your battery... pull the fuse while installing... ;-)

Total time is 30 minutes if you take your time.

Opinion on the fogs: Worth the money. They definitly fill in the void the factory lights have.

'04 Frontier XE V6 Fog Light Question... Now Added with Part#'s

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking to add foglights to my '04 Frontier XE V6 Dessert Runner. I have found a few articles on the Xterra fog lights, but have been told by courtesyparts.com that they are not compatible. (At least the kit is not compatible?)
I have found the fog light wires, taped and tucked with the head light wires.
I am wondering why the Xterra kit will not work?
I can order the foglights and relay (which should be standard) Is the difference in the headlight wand (w/fog) between the Frontier and Xterra, and do I need to order a special one of those?

Thanks for the help.

-Shawn

Rep: 100 Thought I would post an update. Factory fog lights are in and working.
I spoke to a few different dealers and found out that Nissan changed part numbers for different years, and you need to make sure you are getting the right parts for your year.

Here are the part numbers for an '04 Frontier Desser Runner prewired from the factory.

26150-1Z800 (LAMP ASSM)
26155-1Z800 (LAMP ASSM)
25540-5M001 (SWITCH ASSM)
INF 25230-79915 (RELAY)
26399-40U00 (GROMMET) - you need 4 of these
01436-01631 (SCREW) - you need 2 of these

I got my parts from EverythingNissan.com (which is an Infinity Dealer) and the total cost was about $200 - Ask for Dan.
