How hard is it to replace hoses on an AC unit? I just took it back to the place that supposely replaced one of the hoses that was leaking and they found another hose leaking. What a pain in my a$$....they wanted to charge over $200 for that. Is it hard to replace those?
Anyone know a good place to order the hoses from?

Yeah I feel your pain....A year and a half ago the dealership had my high side hose re-made at a local A/C shop (they said it was leaking but it was not a hose they stocked so they would send it out to be repaired ((1989 Nissan truck)). The A/C stopped working again this December, the dealership found the same high side hose leaking again so they would charge me another $350 (for diagnostics, have hose repaired AGAIN, and have system evacuated and re-charged), and guess what??? It took them 7 days to get the re-made hose back from the "local" shop, only to put it in my truck this morning to find this re-made hose has a second leak (the first was in the rubber, the second in the aluminum fitting). Now they have taken the hose off again to send it back for yet another repair. No I am not a big fan of re-made hoses (unless I have a bad tech at the dealership or bad hose re-maker shop).
You need to have someone evacuate your A/C system before replacing your hose (dangers of high pressure gas release ((you don't want freon in the eyes, etc.)) and someone with equipment and the proper know-how to re-charge (and probably flush first) your system without damaging it. Anyway, there's my 2 cents worth...
As far as where to buy hoses, I am still working on that myself...

you havent tries to find a place online that has that factory or aftermarket hose? hopefully since mines a 01 they mass produce these hoses. I will shop around but I prefer not taking it to the dealer....they are such a rip off

I'm surprised that the dealer didn't have the hose in stock since I'm guessing that you have a "91 Xterra. You might try the junk yards. I've had pretty good luck with used parts, including hoses. They're not hard to replace, but you need the right equipment (e.g. vacuum pump). Good luck.
the high & low hose run about $66ea new, how much was it to get a "re-built" hose, besides the replacement part (from Nissan) has 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty, any warranty on the re-built one?

Dealer said the rebuilt one comes with a 12-month warranty. I should have had my system (hose) checked at 11 months for any leaks. I bet I will next time...
