2.4 frontier throtle delay?

I have a 04 frontier 2.4 and while alot of people on here thinks its underpowered i think it does well for the weight of the truck and when comparing it to other 4 banger competitors however, its not all the time but sometimes when you get ready to start from a light it seems like theres a delay before anything really begins to happen.
This can happen with very lite or heavy throttle input but it doesn't really make any sense since it docent have drive by wire. It has close to 12k on it. It was happened pretty oftened when new but has gotten better with the miles but by 12k i figured it should be broken in enough and not do this. My 97 hardbody with slightly less power never did such a thing. Has anyone else with a 4 cylinder frontier experienced anything like this?

Yeah I have an 03 2.4L It has about 15K on it. I have noticed the same thing. It doesn't always happen but sometimes My truck has always done that since I bought it but it seems to happen more recently than when it was brand new. I also noticed that since I put in my K&N filter it doesn't have as much lag, but I think it might have something to do with the way the gears engage in the automatic. But if you find out more let me know because I would like a definite answer myself.

It must just be the nature of the ecu in the 2.4s. Mine is a manual so i dont think its the way your gears engage in your automatic.
