I'm looking into getting an 01-04 frontier. 2wd, crew cab, sc v6.
i'm just wondering and what kind of performance i can expect from this truck stock and what its capable of with aftermarket parts. i see it has a 3.3l v6. is this just a destroked version of the 3.5l v6 in the 350z? if so then i can probably steal nismo parts for 350z's as far as engine performance goes.
any information on performane and real world experience would be greatly appreciated. i'm also looking into a tacoma, ranger, or s10. this will be a turbo/sc application.
another thing..........i'm really wanting to know is if i done a 3.5L swap from a 350z would i be able to use the roots type blower from the frontier? i like that setup for street tuning much better than an accessory mounted s/c or turbo.
if i have to go turbo with the 3.5L swap then so be it. just means i'm gonna go faster is all.

Its an entriely different engine nothing interchanges. There are many aftermarket hop up parts avalibe for the VG33E motor.

You might be able to swap the motor from a 2002 and later pathfinder. That motor is nearly the same as the 350z but the camshafts are different. The supercharger will not interchange.
Building up a NA VG33E makes more power and has way better fuel economy than the VG33R supercharged motor.

You can flollow the build up of our motor in NPM. Jim Wolf Technology, Spencer Low Racing, Nissan Motorsports and others have motor parts.
The engine is really strong but a turbo is sorta hard, if you use a Z31T manifold, the turbo hits the steering box so its gonna be all custom.

The 05 is awsome! I drove 2 6 speed SE crew cabs with the 4.0. The power was great and the truck had a suprisingly smooth ride and felt very solid. My 04 fels very solid and has no squeaks or rattles but the 05 feels that much more solid for some reason.
Both were stikered at less than 22k but had no power options but the 4.0 is all thats needed.

2005 has a boxed frame. Thats why it is more rigid.

Hey, I just read in 4Wheel magazine that Nissan is running a 2.5L Frontier in Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) and is getting 298 HP and 260 lb-ft out of it, YIKES! They didn't list the mods, but did say it wasn't stock - DUH!
