new dude. 1984 Nissan Datsun pickup.

Well, I have a new project ride on my hands. Its a 1984 Nissan/Datsun Pickup Kingcab! Before yall bash anything else...It was free!!! Something I could use to get better gas mileage and something I could possibly use when my car is under the knife.
Its a gold/orangle color and has a tapedeck. Its 2.4L I-4 and an automatic. The exterior isn't bad but the interior needs cleaning. It currently doesn't run for reasons unknown so far. The previous owner assured me it was a cracked block. He tore it apart several times. It worked fine until his ex-girlfriends son fucked it up....go figure. The odo says 265k approx. The engine looks really clean, if you look down under the oil cap, its very clean no oily sludge just shiney metal. Maybe not a important detail but just something I noticed. As for the block replacing, I found a 85 Pickup with the same motor at the junkyard. I could buy the block out of it for about $100. I want to make sure whats wrong with the pimp truck before I drop a dime on it.
Here are some pictures.

Here is how I found it.

Also has a Spare as shown by Abey

Here is our ghetto tow

I sat in it on the street while we towed it out. Needless to say we turned a few heads

Thats about it.

If yall know anything about these motors or even heard about the blocks cracking let me know, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Never heard of a Nissan 4cyl block cracking, but I've seen a camshaft break in half and the front two cylinders barely still keep the rest of the engine running.

Good score, looks like a nice little 720. The motor's fairly uncomplicated, but I wouldn't expect really great gas mileage from it, maybe 20 or so. They didn't make those things to be efficient, as far as I know.
