Can someone help me with a little bit of info??

1993 Pathfinder rear window. Is the defroster grid wires in-bedded into the glass or on the outside of the glass? The reason I'm asking is couple of the grid wires aren't doing their job, will a repair grid kit work in fixing the problem? I would look myself but the vehicle isn't here right now . Thanks to any replies..

They're overlaid on the INSIDE of the window glass.
