Timing Chain Guide

I replaced the chain, guides, tensioner and gears 4 months ago. Now, when I start my '96 4x4 Hardbody in the mornings I'm starting to hear that same sickening sound that made me replace everything to begin with. Also, I'm hearing, what I would describe as "chain slap" at high RPMs when I'm decelerating. Does anybody have any idea why it would be going out again?

I unfortunately found this forum after the replacement and noticed that I could remove the guide altogether. Will this create any problems?

TIA
