Alright I need to buy another truck and I don't want another toyota (R.I.P) I build hondas OLD SCHOOL integra's 90-93 models with newer motors in them like b18c (94-00) motors in a 90-93 model and engine swaps I can do. My question is where is the write up on swapping an sr20det or rb25det/26 into a nissan hardbody? I want power and the truck to be hand in hand. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am NOT paying some shop tons of money to do something I can do for 1/4 of the money. ANY help would be appreciated. BTW what years are best suited for this swap (i.e) what year motor and what year truck chasis has been tested and tried true and good swap? Thanks again.....

I'm assuming the Honda motors are 4 bangers. Anyways, in my opinion, why not just a Nissan V6 into it? If you want more power, why not a Chev 4.3L V6? I've considered swapping a 4.3 V6 into my 87 Z24i hardbody King cab, it was gutless but it had low km's.
There must be a catalog out there where you have choices of engines to be swapped into a certain make and model. Basically this company sold a kit that attaches another make engine to the stock tranny. ANYONE know of the catalog name if they still exist? Motor mounts, I think you'll have to make those yourself.
I've got a CJ7 with a 5.7L V8 and ooomph's of torque.

Hah, 90-93 Hondas are "old-school" to you? *snicker*
First tell me where you can BUY a freakin SR20DET OR RB25DET/RB26DET in the US for a decent price?
Then tell me how you expect to fit an inline 6 into a engine compartment that originally barely fit a 4-cylinder SOHC and/or an NA V6. There's just no room in there to equitably do the swap. It'll cost more than it's worth unless you have money to burn in the first place. I bet you $5 you'll have to swap in a different tranny, change the tranny mounts and probably fab a new driveshaft, as well as trying to find a place to put an intercooler...good luck.

well my first honda was a cvcc 84 hatch, but we won't go there.... OBVIOUSLY from the response here that I have, I am under the impression this board has a bunch of jerks here rather than some people with good info or a suggetsive hand...... I recently began helping a frined to fabricate a square tube chasis reinforcement for a datsun 110 that we put a FULLY BUILT conquest motor with turbo 20g upgrade in... with 4"downpipe, now that bastard is pushing close to the 375 to the wheels.... however if the type of responses I am getting from you is a reflection of this board I would rather stick to my "HONDA'S (snicker) because at least those jackasses are helpful and don't talk shit on motor swaps, but thanks for your childlike comments.....
as far as a cheap motor swap goes YES I DO have access to them fairly cheap and I am sure I can do this, now bang for buck putting in a chevy small block would work... I recently put a 98 tahoe vortech 350 in an 87 chevy s10 shell, I HATE CHEVY'S NOT MY cup of tea....I want boost on a nissan hardbody and it CAN be done
I know zero, zippo, nothing on motor swaps, or what the process is, or where you can get info...
but I'd love to see a VQ series engine in a Hardbody. I loved my 94, and man if it had had the engine my PAthfinder does, it would have been a killer. yeah, yeah, I knoiw it would need new mounts, and probably new axles and all that, but I love the hardbody style, more so than the frontier. If I had the money and knowledge, I'd have a go at it. Why not?
good luck finding info..someone will come along here with somethijg I'm sure.
(A Newbie, trying to enhance the reputation of this board...)
Well, it's not my forte, but I notice the most popular engine-swap for 240SXs seems to be the SR20DET - I hear it's basically a drop-in. And since the 240SX and hardbody have virtually the same engine, it should be easy for the hardbody as well (as long as it's 1990 or newer)
IIRC, the SR20DET is about 250hp, a boost of 120hp over the KA24. it's also more than th e Venerable Chevy 4.3V6 which is about 200-230hp. I'd guess it's also more than the Nissan V6. And it's light as hell.
Course, at over 100hp/litre, you won't be getting longevity or low-end grunt, which is what most trucks owners want, but I'm guessing that's not your concern. Just make sure you can get all that power to the road...
BTW: Here's a website outlining how to swap a KA24 with a SR20DET in a 240SX: 240SX Engine Swap

Yes, the hardbody and frontier can both handle the sr20det. Just get one with a 4 cylnder (ka24de)chang the bell housing out to the sr20 one, change motor mounts(i think) and get a sr20det ecu The rb in a truck is too much you would probly need another 600 lbs in the bed, or you will just sit there and spin wheels all day. if you were to do a rb swap i would get the rb26 and add the rb25 tranny(awd) plus you would need a bunch of other crap.

SO it CAN be done is that correct? I have worked on a 97 240sx with a sr20 in it and I had an easy time with wiring MOST of the plugs are the same....
I am not a jerk, but I will give you my $.02 worth. I have owned 3 hardbodys and have always quested for more power. No I don't have one now but I know how to mod one. My first suggestion is to get a 240SX head dual over head cam and swap the wiring over to the 240 fuel injection. This will give you a big improvment. Now lets go a step futher, lets take our KA24DE (240SX engine) and bolt a turbo on it. I have all of the information and the guy to get in touch with to do this. He has a 240 with the KA24DE pushing out 365HP to the rear wheels dependably! <-- KEY WORD! Now that kind of power in a PU would be unreal. So we are not satisfied, lets go a step futher than that. Forget the 4 banger all together. Either purchase a SEV6 Hardbody or convert a 4 banger to a V6. Go buy yourself a VG30ET to put in it. I recomend you get the motor and all of the electronics with it out of a Turbo Z31. This is what I plan on doing when I get another one. I know of a guy in NJ who has done this, the only truck that can out run him is a Lightning and a Dodge SRT10. And we all know how many of them we run across everyday. So see what you think, The SR20DET is a great motor. However it is only 2.0 liters and in a pick up I don't think you would be happy with a High horse power very low torque engine. Thanks Josh
