I am looking a purchasing a used 1997 4x4 AT pathfinder. The Car I want has 107K miles on it so I am a littled worried about its reliability. I have read about major transmission problems with 97 pathfinders at around 100K miles, can anyone tell me if this is a frequent problem.

you're looking at an 8 year old car, so there is going to be some issues with it... 107k is pretty average for a 97, just about 13k a year... id spend the 100 or so bucks and take it to a mechanic for a thorogh inspection before buying it... Does the tranny act funny or give unusual noises when you drive it?
