Recently, I decided to purchase a CD player for my wife. She has a 1995 Nissan Pickup with a stock stereo. I removed the stock stereo and was about to replace it with the new CD player; however, the CD player did not have the receptacles for the Nissan adapter that contains all of the wires; instead, it had only exposed wires. As a result, I clipped the adapter and proceeded to solder the correct wires from the truck to the correct wires on the CD player. Now, I've run into two problems. The interior lights no longer work and the stereo isn't completely installed I've correctly attached each speaker wire from the truck to the correct wire on the CD player, and I've attached power to power and ignition to ignition. However, two wires remain exposed from the truck. If you go to http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Nissan-Wiring.pdf, and look under 1995 models and later, the two wires that I clipped are pins H and L, which the diagram states, "Do not use." What should I do with these two leads? What are these two leads? Are these leads the reason why the interior lights do not work? Lastly, how do I ground the stereo? I look at the diagram and the previous stereo, and I see no lead that indicates that it was grounded.
I thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. I hope I described my problem accurately; if you need more information, please feel free to contact me or reply, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you once again.
ouch. Hindsight being 20/20, there is an adapter that can be bought at most Walmart/Kmart/target as well as any audio store for 5-10 dollars that would plug into the Nissan harness and give the proper leads. This way soldering is done on the bench, not in the truck. This said, it sounds like there are wires that are connected in the stock stereo that need to be reconnected. Let me see what I can find out.

Hey wait.... Plug in the rheostat connected to the black dash bezel (horizontal knob)and you will have your interior lights again (I think). Your hazards and cig lighter are on this trim piece as well.

Like the wiring diagram pin-out schematic says, pin "K" is the ground wire. Connect that to the black wire from the new stereo and/or the new stereo's metal case. About the wires that say "do not use", one is likely the stock dimmer circuit that makes the stereo display dim along with the dash lights. Dunno about the other one, but it would seem that you've found the wire for the dimmer circuit and shorted it out by connecting the wrong wire to it. Look in your fuse panel for a popped dash/guages fuse.
