Hi. I'm hoping someone can lead me in the right direction for some performance upgrades on a Nissan Frontier 4cyl. Thr truck runs flawless but is lacking in the performance dept. I am use to big block chevys, i'm sure i can't compete, but i need more!!!! Is there a intake, header, exhaust upgrade? I know where to start in V8 land, usually headers, carb, intake, cam. Please help me with my Nissan!!!!!!
Same rules still apply except availability goes down while cost goes up. People have been happy with Dynomax, Magnaflow, and Flowmaster mufflers and cat backs. K&N's, CAI's and synthetic lube swaps are common. Headers do exist but are quite expensive. The engine is not set up to take much boost, but a SR20det will bolt in. Wiring and plumbing are up to the installer. Deeper wallets go faster.

in your other post i told you about forced induction, so read that.
inline 4's beef up the same way v8's do...but your car definitly doesn't have a carb lol. unfortunatly, your engine has only one cam which reduces its potential quite a bit.(at least i think it has one cam)
Pretty sure they went to the DE dual overhead in 98 with the new body style.

Its definently a DOHC motor. Is it a 5 speed or auto? As long as its set up right that motor should have no problem taking 5 pounds of boost. There have been a few people with 240sx's with that motor making in excess of 400 whp!! Of course threy were heavily moded, but in stock form 200 or even 250 is possible. Stock refering to internal components. Its a prety stout block and im sure it has a forged crank.
