Question Automatic Transmission fluid & filter change kit

Is there a Automatic Transmission fluid & filter change kit, for a 1998 Frontier 4x2, 2.4l 4 cyl. engine? Also what grease or fluid do I use in the differential. What ATF to get?

I just searched the 'Truck & SUV' section for 'Frontier trans filter' and found this:

Tmaxx, OEM Nissan ATF is a safe bet. Maybe search on-line for a better price than you'll get locally from a stealership. You'll need to order at least a case of the stuff for most auto tranny flush 'n fill jobs.

I might take a chance using Schaeffer or some other high-quality ATF fluid but the OEM requirements MUST BE met and even then auto trannies are picky depending on brand, amount of wear, etc ... Experimentation on some funky brand or one-formula-fits all might result in a slightly slippy tranny ... or one that seems to shift brutally hard.

I have little experience with slushboxes in general and I avoid them.

As for your differentials, most take a 75W-90 gear oil but again, you need to find out for sure if you have limited slip (posi) differentials, both front and rear.

Search using the word "diffs" to find other threads where this is discussed. There have been several.

Any fluid labeled Dexron3 is is fine for the frontiers tranny. The manual says nissan maticD or Dexron3.
