98 frontier misfire and evap problem

I have a 98 frontier 4x4 with the 4cyl. The check engine light came on a few weeks back. The codes at the time were both EVAP system codes. Evaporative Emmisions Control System Pressure Sensor Malfunction, and Evaporative Vac. Solidoid Circuit Malfunction. I wrote down the codes and reset the light just to double check, and then back it came with a vengance.

Now I have still have an Evaporative Emissions control systempressure sensor malfunction, and i have a new code Cylinder 2 misfire.

Today I replaced the plugs, wires, rotor, and distributor cap. I also replaced the purge control solenoid valve which tested bad ($196.00 just for the valve, from the dealer only). Then I resset the check engine light and waited.

Yep back on with the same 2 codes, misfire cylinder 2 and Evaporative Emissions control system pressure sensor malfunction.

Any ideas would be very welcome. How does the computer detect a misfire? Why would the Evap and a misfire be related? Why would it be only on the one cylinder? etc. I'm confused.

Still need help

just an update for anyone that can help. I did a compression check today and found 140psi on 1,3,and 4, but cyl 2 only had 75psi. I'm not burning oil, and my coolant is clean. I am betting on a burnt valve requiring a valve job.

I still don't understand what relationship all this is to the evap emissions system.

I have 107k on it now. I honestly expected more out of it before I had any major engine problems.

Anybody know a good place to get a 4cyl long block and clutch put in around the Atlanta area?
