1997 Hardbody Electrical Problem
Alternator belt squealed and broke. After replacing the alternator(which tested good), battery(new) and belt, I now realize that none of these were the problem to start with. Somehow, there is an excessive load when the engine is running. New alternator output is fine but very noisy (noise goes away above 2000 RPM) as was the old one. When the red output wire is disconnected the noise goes away also suggesting excessive load at idle. The battery does not discharge when the engine is off and the fuses are good.
My manual is a generic one and doesn't give a clear picture of the curcuit. I would welcome suggestions.
