Pathfinder 1997 - Speedometer, Odometer and Cruise control

I have a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder with 52K miles only. Yesterday, the speedometer, odometer and the cruise control stopped working. The tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauges are fine.

If you try to turn on the cruise control, the CRUISE light blinks rapidly and the cruise control doesnt work.

Any ideas on whats going on ? Its strange to see this happen on at a relatively low mileage.

Appreciate any insights...

I have a 2002 gle maxima that is having the same problem. Did you ever figure out what it was?

I would chance to say to look at the VSS or if it is cable operated the speedo cable.

just thinking loud.. speedometer i not working so it can not measuring the distance you travel plus because of unknown speed cruise control can not adjust the gas. it is working but it says something missing to monitoring speed and blinking... ok how does it measure the speed? if i were you i would be seeking for answer of this... i am not sure about pathfinder but sensor can be on rear differential.
