2002 xterra subwoofer

hi All,

I have a 2002 xterra with no sub woofer (I do have the premium sound package though 6 speaker, 6 cd changer..etc). The sound is not as heavy as I like, most probably due to the sound dynamics of the vehicle size. I know that a sub was a dealer option on some models at least in the newer Xterras

My questions are
1) what type of sub (make, style etc) is the factory sub?
2) where in the vehicle does this factory sub sit?

not that I am going to run out and get this exact one, but I would like to know the details. Mostly as to where cuase I don't want a big box in the back.

also any comments on the sound quality would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks

I believe its a 8" fosgate sub that is mounted in the right or left rear panel behind the rear seat you can probably get a custom enclosure similar to that style and buy and after market amp and sub that will fit in it or you can raid some junkyard xterra's to look for the factory enclosure to put your sub in. I for myself added a 10" fosgate sub in a custom box to the factory 6disc 6speaker set-up (in a frontier though) and it sounds great! good luck

later,
