97 1/2 model year engine info

I have been following all the rattle noise info, mine does it about 2-4 seconds during morning starts, some have said in this forum that later modle years had the updated parts (ie metal insted of plastic) is the only way to tell to remove the cover and look? I love the truck and am getting 25 mpg regularly . (put on a tailgate net and new plugs (cap and rotor) and new air filter incase you are wondering how I am getting this mileage).

Andy

ps I know that it is a late model 97 4cyl, xe stick

That's great MPG! I get somewhere in the low 20s with mixed use driving. My problem is that I get out of a Q45 to drive the truck, so the power is very reduced. To make up for it I tend to drive it like I stole it. The truck doesn't seem happy unless it's above 1800 RPM.

My guess is that your truck has the metal guides. I have never heard an exact date or VIN for the updated guides. You might check with Joe at www.everythingnissan.com (1-888-216-5328) for information.
