Hello All:

I just thought I would register and ask a couple questions / introduce myself. I am in Nova Scotia Canada, I previously owned an 87 Pathfinder and loved it (but I did end up selling it a couple of years ago). I just bought a 93 Pathfinder, And was wondering when I turn on or off the stereo I get a really annoying (hard to explain electric motor gone bad) type of noise. It is coming from under the dash or in the inner fender area of the passenger side, and lasts about 30 seconds???.

Also I have the casette stereo and a cd player directly under it (is that CD player stock???) and if so how do I use it??. It lights up but will not take a cd in ? I also was wondering how you change the source on the main casette stereo to use the cd????.

And I guess my last question (of many to come hehe) My front pasenger door lock is acting really strange. When I use the power locks the door will not open, But when you try to open the door handle outside the door lock's and refuses to open????. The only way I have been able to open the door is manualy with the key ???. How do I get the inner door panel off to check the mechanisum ?? Any Ideas ?

It sounds like it could be your power lock mechanism. Check the connections.

Or, it could be the lock mechanism itself. I have a '90 Pathfinder and have had to replace a small plastic disk in the lock mechanism a couple of times. The disk slips into the center of the lock mechanism. It is a real bitch to get to. I don't believe you can take the inner door apart. It's welded. The good news is that the part is cheap. (Probably $2 or so.)

You have to pull the door lock shaft up and slip the disk into the center with a pair of needle-nose pliers and then drop the shaft back down and reconnect everything.

Thanks splatt, I will check that mechanism over the weekend. I also figured out what the noise is when I turn the stereo on ( broken power antenna motor / linkage).

i hate to ask this, but as far as the cd player goes, are you sure that thiers not a cd already inside? i hate to ask this, but if its this simple it would be worth it.

LOL, No cd is inside, But thanks for replying anyways, You never know ( My company is accualy in the sound / light and video entertainment buisness, 10 years) . I beleve the problem is in the electrical, But havent had a chance to check yet. I am thinking of going aftermarket anyways, I need line level in and out on the head unit. I will be adding a lcd screen and dvd player, As well as amps / sub / and other aftermarket speakers.
