single cab p/u audio

hello everyone.

ill start by listing what i have in my truck.
jvc head unit
5-1/4" infinity kappa in the doors
6" bazooka tube behind the seat.

id like to put an amp somewhere, just a small tri-way amp. i think the only way to attach it would be to put it on the back of the seat. does anyone have experience with a similar setup?

i would like to put a small sub in, but i MUST have the seat all the way back, or ill be crammed up against the dash. are there any ideas?

thanks
-matt

You could try putting it under the seat, or you could fab up some kind of board on the back wall of the cab for mounting purposes. Ask some people on car audio BBs, like www.caraudio.com . They usually have a few guys who know their stuff.

Good luck! And next time try for the extended cab. (j/k)

Hey Bump, I have had experience with this. Mounting an amp vertically like I did is asking for heat problems. Not sure why, but my problems went away after I moved the amp to the floor under the drivers seat. I used a Infinity 1000wbr and placed it in a box 16" tall 14 in wide and 7in bottom-4 in top. It moved the seat foward 1 notch. The sub tended to hit the seat bar when pushed. Using these dimensions to fab a cardboard box, then making fine adjustments prior to building should get the required airspace and legroom you are looking for. You might also look into mounting the sub behind the face board to eliminate the seat bar problem. This would require pushing the box dimensions out in other areas, though.
